Virgen de Guadalupe

Last week, on the 12th it was Virgen the Guadalupe”s Birthday. So Aracely and I went to a church in Santa Ana to cover the event. People from all kinds of places come to bring her flowers. It was very beautiful to see how many flowers she had. We talked to the people in charge and they explained to us that a few days later the flower are taken to different hospitals in the area and to the local cemetery. I’ve been covering all kinds of event with Aracely Martinez for the OC Excelsior, a spanish Version of the OC Register. We always have a lot of fun, and its been a great experience so far.

LA Food Bank

For the pass couple of months one of my classes has been working on a project to help the LA Food Bank. The whole class participated, going to different churches or places; at this locations the LA Food Bank distributes food and goods to people that really need it. Its all based on donations and volunteers, so all help is always welcome. It a beautiful thing they are doing, and it was great to be part of it. I hope to continue participating in things like this. The the concept was to take pictures of the people that use this public service, the volunteers and what goes behind the scenes as well, to inform the future donors and the one who have donated of what happens with the donations. Here are some of the portraits taken at the church I went to with Brent and Clifford.

Pin hole Camera!

I had to make a pin hole Camera for my Photo History class. Well, my expectation were not that high; i thought i was not gonna get anything out of this. I was wrong. It turned out to be a great little project to do, in fact I love my shoe box camera. It was a lot easier to make than i thought. Its just  shoe box ( with out the shoes) with a pin hole on the middle, then you need black and white photo paper. And my exposures were  about 25-30 seconds.  I definitely want to keep playing with it. I was very excited to see the results, its very clean.
